Chemistry - Dr. Rizalia Klausmeyer
Dr. Rizalia M. Klausmeyer received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico in 1991 and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1996. After a postdoc at Rohm and Haas she started her academic career at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign as Director of Freshmen Chemistry Labs and taught Freshman Chemistry.
Dr. Klausmeyer and her husband moved to Texas in 2000 so that the other Dr. Klausmeyer (Kevin) could start his career as Professor of Chemistry. She started teaching chemistry at Baylor that same year when one of the lecturers got sick. She is still teaching to this day. In 2013 she became the Associate Director of the Prehealth Office and Program Director of the Science and Health Living Learning Center, a position she enjoyed until 2018, when she became Director of Undergraduate Research for the College of Arts and Sciences.
She is married to Dr. Kevin Klausmeyer, Professor of Chemistry, and together they have 3 daughters and 6 chickens, plus the neighbor’s dog, who comes to visit often.
