Engagement
Costa Rica Mission Trip
Students from Hallie Earle Hall will be traveling to Costa Rica in May of 2024 to work with BU Missions' partner, One More Child. Team members will have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of people who have encountered difficulties, such as sex-trafficking, fleeing their homes, and living in material poverty. Some of the activities team members might do in the community include serving meals, creating health and hygiene lessons, distributing necessary supplies to local families and participating in a sports camp.
We hope that students will develop an understanding of the cultural and economic differences present in the communities they'll be working in and gain an appreciation for service and build it into their everyday lives.
Loaves of Love
Every other Friday, Earle residents gather in the Earle classroom to assemble sandwiches for Shepherd's Heart Food Pantry to distribute to local nursing homes. In the assembly-line appraoch, students can make between 400-600 sandwiches to distribute! Baylor Dining contributes to this event by donating bread, which also can prevent food waste. This event is allows for not only a service opportunity for the Waco community, but residents enjoy listening to music and chatting with friends as a part of the fun atmosphere. We can share our love for others through food!
Prehealth Chapel
Earle Hall has its own chapel right in our courtyard, the Elliston Chapel which offers a Faith & Healing Professions Chapel course. Pre-health students in this chapel experience will explore the ways in which faith perspectives and spiritual practices form and prepare future healthcare professionals to deal with the challenges they will face. Each week will include talks and discussions that will emphasize the importance of healthy spiritual life and encourage the development of helpful practices early in one's career in the medical world.
Weekly Bible Study
Every Friday, Earle residents can participate in a weekly Bible study held in the Earle Classroom. Students and faculty present devotionals and testimonials where students can enjoy fellowship and community.
